Job Purpose
|
Head of Data Office will lead and manage Bank-wide data office activities (including customer data) and will have responsibility for improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets. The position will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data office framework for data policies, standards and practices, to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs.
Head of Data Office serves as a point of escalation for governance, data quality and protection issues and will work closely with Business and Functional area leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets, respond to regulatory protection requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of the department, including continues interaction with information security and internal audit for the purpose of standing on the frequent inspections on the polices and procedures scope, outcome and analysis. As well as, providing the adequate training sessions to bank employees on the requirements and policies of data protection and imbed the culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
|
- Establish an enterprise data office framework, including data taxonomy and data standards
- Design and own the data office Policies and Procedures, Own the Implementation strategy and roadmap of the Policies & Procedures
- Roll out an enterprise-wide data office framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture
- Define changes required in the IT change management procedures on account of data office procedures, and work with IT for the implementation
- Define roles and responsibilities related to data office and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the branch’s principal information assets.
- Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated, well understood and considered as part of prioritization and planning
- Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise; Co-own with Head of Data Architecture and Data Services implementation of Data Office solution covering data catalogs, data standards, data sharing agreements, and lineage
- Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements
- Set up Bank-wide Data Office Committee and track/ report the progress of the Governance roadmap as well as quality of data in the organization
- Guide and assist in setting up domain level Data Office Committees
- Lead multi-disciplinary virtual teams in resolving issues escalated from Business and Functional areas data office representatives
- Provide progress reports to Board management and oversee periodic updates to the Department Data Office Roadmap
§ Uphold data protection laws and practices, monitor compliance to keep the organization accountable for its data and notify teams and authorities of data breaches
- Provide expert advice and educate employees on important data compliance requirements.
§ Support business operations and data handling.
- Draft new and amend existing internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders
- Deliver training across all business units to staff members who are involved in data handling or processing
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance and to address potential issues
- Maintain records of all data processing activities of the Branch
- Serve as point of contact for data protection authorities
- Planning, establishing, and enforcing data protection policies.
- Securing sensitive information and making specified data available according to organizational needs.
- Provide advice regarding the date protection impact assessment and monitor its performance.

Qualification & Experience
|
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a financial services organization, with large-scale data or project management and governance experience
- 3 years in a management role, with leadership experience in Data Office and/or Risk & controls
- Expertise in data protection laws and practices, including deep understanding of GDPR.
- Knowledge of data Office practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
- Expertise in data related regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
- Demonstrated consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication and culture change
- Internally and externally recognized subject matter expert that influence the way things are done
- Knowledge in a legal, audit, or risk management role
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to details
