Job Description

Responsibilities:

Design plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, stormwater, gas piping, and fire protection.

Prepare plumbing drawings, specifications, and calculations for construction documents.

Perform system load calculations, water pressure assessments, and equipment sizing.

Ensure designs meet local plumbing codes, health and safety regulations, and sustainability standards (e.g., LEED).

Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and project managers throughout the project lifecycle.

Review and approve submittals, shop drawings, and coordinate with construction teams during installation.

Conduct site inspections, testing, and commissioning of plumbing systems.

Resolve technical issues and respond to RFIs (Requests for Information) during construction.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or required (depending on region and role level).

Proficiency in plumbing and MEP design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Pipe Flow Expert).

Strong understanding of plumbing codes (e.g., IPC, UPC, NFPA 13 for fire protection).

Experience with sustainable design practices and water conservation systems is a plus.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
